Natalie and Howie | Wedding at Riverwood Mansion

When Natalie and Howie first contacted me to discuss the possibility of me photographing their wedding, I suggested we meet over a beer at 3 Crow Bar in East Nashville so I could show off some sample albums. I was a little worried that I’d come off unprofessional somehow in suggesting that we meet at a bar but when we got together I found out that Natalie works for Miller Brewing and Howie owns two bars in Knoxville. In fact, that is how they met so I guess you could say beer is what brought them together. I wasn’t surprised to hear that they were bringing in a pretty eclectic selection of beers for their reception at Riverwood Mansion.
I met the girls for getting ready photos at Lunatic Fringe salon in Franklin where one of the bridesmaids worked on the bride’s hair. By the time we got to Riverwood Mansion, it looked like it would pour any minute so I rushed the girls just a bit to get ready fast so we could get a few outdoor shots in case the rain wouldn’t stop once it started. As soon as the girls started to head inside it started to rain. They considered moving the ceremony into the Pavillion where the reception would be but Natalie stuck to her guns and said they would do it outside rain or shine and she made the right call because everything worked out. The sprinkling rain stopped just as the bride and her father stepped outside to begin their walk down the isle. They had a live band at the reception and the dance floor stayed busy throughout the evening. One highlight was when the bride’s sister took the mic and sang a Patty Griffin song. It was great to be a part of this wedding and to follow the newlyweds’ honeymoon adventures in Rome and Tuscany.
